The Centre of International Law was created in spring 2003 on the basis of the Court Room of Kyiv International University. The Centre of International Law closely cooperates with the Centre of International and Public Relations, International and Comparative Law Department as well as Institute of International Relations and Institute of Law.
The aim of the Centre of International Law is to provide KIU teachers and students with the possibility to conduct researches in the field of international law. This aim presupposes establishing and development of cooperation with domestic and foreign higher education and scientific institutions in the field of international law. The main trends of such cooperation is to conduct joint researches in the field of international law, to organize participation of KIU teachers and students in conferences, seminars and other scientific and practical events, training of KIU teachers in scientific institutions, postgraduate education of KIU undergraduates in higher education institutions abroad. Other trends of cooperation are to establish cooperation in the field of international law with international organizations and funds, embassies of foreign countries in Ukraine, governmental authorities of Ukraine and law firms.
Kyiv International University has one of the most powerful in Ukraine participation programme in International Law Competitions (the B. Telders Competition, Philip C. Jessup Competition, Jean-Pictet Competition, etc.). Therefore, the Centre of International Law tries to provide a thorough training of students who gained the right to represent KIU in these competitions. This preparation of students for participation in these competitions is closely connected with another activity of the Centre – support and development of the library.
All the above mentioned activities of the Centre of International Law are aimed at the implementation of the general education concept in KIU – provision of employment of KIU graduates. To this end the Centre of International Law takes all necessary measures to encourage and to help in provision of employment, to obtain postgraduate education abroad as well as by highlighting KIU achievements in the field of international law in mass media.
