Extensive professional knowledge of the specialty is formed of the following subjects:

Introduction to building, technical mechanics of liquid and gas, construction mechanics, building materials, engineering graphics, metrology and standardization, engineering geodesy (general course), engineering geology and basic soil mechanics, urban planning and transportation, building constructions: metal, concrete and stone, foundations; construction equipment, building production technology, organization of building (special course), building economics, production base of construction, electrotechnology in building, water supply and sewerage, heat and gas supply and ventilation, construction and installation of buildings and structures, the resistance of materials, construction mechanics (special course); bases and foundations, safety, architecture of buildings and structures.

Students of the Department of Building and Architecture have practical training in:

  • companies and firms of different ownership forms which apply new technologies in the design, construction and operation of buildings and structures;

Practical training consists of:

  • introductory teaching practice (1st year) - geodetic practice;
  • educational practice (2nd year) - technological practice;
  • manufacturing practice (3d year).

After a full academic course a specialist in building and civil engineering is prepared to work with:

Specialist in building and civil engineering is prepared to work with:

  • Mining (development of stone quarries);
  • Manufacturing industry(manufacture of concrete and plaster articles; production of metal structures for building);
  • Production of electricity, gas and water (collection, purification and distribution of water: a system of street distribution networks in cities, urban-type communities, rural areas; distribution of drinking water for people and communal needs of enterprises, organizations, institutions);
  • Building/construction (demolition of buildings, the release of building lots; excavation, general construction of buildings (new works, works of replacement, reconstruction and rehabilitation); construction of bridges, road trestles, tunnels, subways, construction of pipelines, communication lines and power supply, construction of pipelines laying power lines, extra work; construction of power plants, mining and manufacturing, construction and other engineering structures not classified in other groups (intake, treatment facilities, spillways, pump stations); installation of prefabricated constructions, laying of foundations and drilling of wells and pit, concrete work, installation of metal structures, brick and masonry, and other special construction works, installation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning, gas pipeline work; water and sewer work);
